I write to you as a valued local resident of our football club Bournemouth FC “The Poppies”.
Our home, Victoria Park, is situated in Namu Road, Winton with our senior team currently playing in the Sydenham’s Wessex League Premier Division which is Step 5 in the FA’s Non-League Football Pyramid.
We are a community club established in 1875 having a long and prestigious history with success in a variety of league and cup competitions, last year for the 2018/19 season we were crowned champions of the Bournemouth Senior Cup.
Bournemouth FC are proud to have been awarded the accolade of being an FA Charter Standard Community Club meaning the delivery of our football from both youth to senior level is exceptional in terms of professionalism and quality for our players along with demonstrating exceptional standards of the FA’s Respect Code of Conduct.
We as a club take pride in offering a football pathway from Under 8’s through to senior adult football inspiring over 250 young players of all ages to develop to a semi-professional level.
As proud and passionate as our members are about the club unfortunately all this comes at a significant cost having to compete week in and week out against the much larger professional clubs located on our doorstep.
It saddens me to inform you that our home in Namu Road is affected significantly by crime with regular vandalism at the ground and on our clubhouse due to its vulnerable location and the lack of security measures.
Victoria Park is also in much need of repair deteriorating at a fast pace with the adverse weather we experience each year. The ground requires constant maintenance which is very hard to sustain with such limited volunteers.
As I previously mentioned the running and operation of the football club comes at a cost with all funds generated through local sponsorship and kind gestures from the handful of volunteers. This is again very challenging when we are competing against such large professional football clubs within our region.
It is the aim of our club to be the focal point within the community offering state of the art facilities where local people can come together and utilise these facilities for a variety of activities/events.
The longer term future of the club however is not going to be sustainable without the local communities support going forward and this is where I am reaching out to you to help in any way you possibly can with kind donations, sponsorship or just a helping hand at our home. For the children within our club to have to experience their dreams shattered due to its closure would be
I would be more than happy to discuss this with you on a more personal level if you are in anyway able to help us so please do not hesitate to contact me, your support will be gratefully received to keep this wonderful community club alive.
