Poppies travelled to the Gang Warily Stadium on Saturday to take on Blackfield & Langley in need of league points following a 3:0 defeat at home to AFC Porchester mid-week.

Poppies haven’t picked up a point in their last four games and were looking to follow up with their impressive FA Vase victory over Blackfield & Langley back in October but Blackfield almost certainly didn’t want another repeat of their cup upset.

It however wasn’t to be for Poppies on this occasion as last seasons Southern League Premier Division side displayed a dominant performance throughout netting four past Sam Jones. It was substitute Matthew Lock who got the only goal for Poppies as they fell to a fifth successive straight defeat, dropping a place to 13th in the league table and five points from safety. Final score Blackfield & Langley FC 4, Bournemouth FC 1.

During the second national lockdown and a suspension of the Sydenhams Wessex League, Poppies have seen players depart the club and with injury still looming over the experienced Will Prior it would seem an uphill battle for manager Leo Cabeleira at the moment.

Poppies have conceded 35 goals in 13 league games so far this season and travel to league leaders Hamworthy Utd on Tuesday (15th Dec) evening where they will be looking to reduce their goal difference and come away with a much needed three points. Kick Off 7:30pm at the Specsavers County Ground, Hamworthy, BH15 4BF.

Following the away fixture to Hamworthy Utd on Tuesday, Poppies will begin a five game stretch of home fixtures at Victoria Park commencing Saturday 19th December against Baffins Milton Rovers, 3pm Kick Off.
